Find art in everything and everything in art.

It is all around you. Find art wherever you look.

You are art from your presence, your existence, your body. The world around you is art as well: the way the trees sway in the breeze, the flowers in bloom, and the warmth of the sun radiating on your skin.

Art is not confined to galleries or canvases. It lives in moments, in movement, in nature, and in the simple act of being.

Art is perception.

FEATURED ARTWORK

Umbi Dandhi-ngu is a contemporary Aboriginal artwork exploring the strength of a woman standing at the centre of endless journeys before her. The piece speaks to personal growth, connection, spirit, and the lifelong journey we each walk.

At the heart of the painting stands the umbi (woman), surrounded by the roots of the earth, the dandhi(land), the sea and the stars above. She serves as a reminder that the place we call home is limitless, from the deepest roots beneath our feet to the endless skies above us.

Created with acrylic paint on canvas, the artwork incorporates raised textures using modelling paste to add depth, movement and a tactile quality. The sculptural native flora catches the light and brings elements of Country to life, reflecting the layered nature of our lands, seas and the journeys that shape us, both those we have travelled and those still awaiting us.

Throughout the painting are symbolic elements including people dancing, waterways, meeting places, animal tracks, footprints representing the paths we leave behind, native bush tucker, and flowing lines and curves that illustrate the connections and journeys between people, places and Country.

A soft palette of blush pinks, pastel yellows, warm ochres and gentle greens reflects femininity and renewal, while honouring the beauty, resilience and spirit found within both Country and ourselves.

Meet the Artist

Hi, I'm Cobi Zerbst, a proud Gunggari woman based in North Queensland, working and living on Bindal and Wulgurukaba country. I create artworks that are shaped by landscapes, connections, and stories that surround me.

My art ranges from both contemporary Aboriginal art but also to western outback inspired themes. Drawing inspiration from the landscapes I grew up on, open landscapes, cattle and the land that offers so much.

I honour the places, experiences and people that have shaped me along the way through my art, utilising colours, textures and story telling.

I would love to have you on this journey with me.
